CLIENT – PAISLEY SOUTH HOUSING ASSOCIATION

The condition of the four closes within Johnston Street had deteriorated over recent years with one close having extensive fire damage and many properties lying empty for a long period of time. Assist Architects designed an extensive rebuilding of the closes and Helforn was awarded the contract on competitive tender.

The 56 week contract started in December 2006. Work consisted of the demolition of internal partitions/flooring etc and the rebuilding of 30 Flats in a new configuration, with the construction of new roof structure. Work included new internal structure, Fabric repairs, Plumber work, Electrical, Ventilation, Decoration, close work, window replacement, landscaping and associated works. The site is over existing shops and the contracts staff had to ensure their safe trading throughout all contract works.

The properties consist of 1 or 2 bed flats in sought after area owned by separate owners and Paisley South Housing Association.
