STEEL CLADDING HOUSES REFURBISHMENT

CLIENT – OAK TREE HOUSING ASSOCIATION

Helforn ltd was awarded the contract on open tender to extensively modernise 60 dwellings within Greenock. The  contract started in March 2007 for 60 weeks and as the houses were Cowieson steel clad houses, the construction of the houses and engineering requirements meant that all the existing steel had to be removed panel by panel, the timbers behind had a rot survey carried out, remedial works done and new steel fixed. The main upgrading works could then commence, consisting of new windows, external doors, re-roofing and insulated render system. The internal works then followed on with kitchen and bathroom renewal, new central heating, re-plumbing and electrical re-wiring.

With our contracts team working closely with the local community the work has been carried out with the tenants in residence and we have had to develop to meet the clients and tenants needs. The contract is progressing well and all parties anticipate completion before the contract completion date of May 2008 with Helforn targeting a December 2007 completion.
